Columbia Credit Union Recognized for Corporate Philanthropy
The Corporate Philanthropy Awards is The Portland Business Journal’s annual celebration of the region’s most philanthropic companies. Columbia Credit Union is no stranger to the concept or practice of philanthropy with our Core Values of People, Community, and Financial Wellness centering all of our corporate endeavors. Giving back to members, neighbors, businesses, and nonprofits is in the DNA of how Columbia CU functions as a financial institution, and why we’ve been recognized as one of the Portland area’s most generous companies in the large business category. This is Columbia Credit Union’s eighth recognition since 2017.
“Our mission is to make life better for our community, plain and simple,” said Lindsey Salvestrin, Columbia Credit Union President & CEO. “As a member-led community banking partner, when the community thrives so does the credit union. That’s why our commitment to giving back will always be so strong, and why we’re so proud to be recognized at the Corporate Philanthropy Awards.”
As a Core Value, the credit union’s support of the community plays a front-and-center role in our operations, with significant dollars and time given back. In 2023, we supported 61 nonprofits with $409,300 in funding, helping activate more than $7.5 million in money raised for local causes that provided needed wrap-around services. Staff take the community-first approach to heart as well, with managers volunteering their time to nonprofit and community activities throughout the year, giving back an impressive 1,385 hours to local causes last year.
